fight Spam - Anything you do today, helps all of us tomorrow! |
 |
Many
of you are aware that we are continually working on keeping
Spam in all its forms from getting to our clients. While
this takes ongoing reports, tracking, and filter settings.
Sadly, we will never be able to stop it all. We have concentrated
on those spammers that are the worst offenders and we block
as much of their material as we can to prevent it from being
seen by you and your children.
Our
Spam filters tag many spam messages with *****SPAM*****
which can be used to filter to a spam folder to deal with
as you wish to but keep your Inbox clean. Click
here to visit the step-by-step directions.
There is a great deal that you can do to not only help yourself,
but the entire internet community, to stop spammers. This
page contains spam no no's, how
to prevent spam, reporting spam
with SpamCop and links to outside sites
where you can report spam, scams etc. and get more information
in the fight against them.

NO NO's |

This ONLY confirms to the spammer that they have a live and
working email address which they can sell to all their spamming
buddies. SpamCop has more information about how to determine
if an email IS spam or not. |

| How
to prevent getting spam in the first place! |
While
sometimes, no matter what you do, spammers will get your email
address. Sometimes they send out thousands of messages to
a single domain with every name combination they can think
of in the hopes that at least a few will get through to a
real email address. This is part of the reason why we call
them "bandwidth thieves".
The best way to keep spam to a minimum is to never give your
email address to anyone that you don't know and don't WANT
to get email from. Now there are times when this isn't possible
such as when you wish to make a purchase online. Before you
make any purchases from any company (yes, even the big ones),
always check their Privacy Policy which should
be an easy to find link, usually displayed at the bottom of
the web site's pages. If they say they reserve the right to
"Share" your information with their "Partners"
then find another place to make your purchase. Their "Partners"
could be anyone under the sun who will pay for your personal
information. There are many companies out there who would
never sell your information and take your privacy very seriously.
Those are the companies you should support with your patronage.
Now, what about Newsletters and eZines delivered via email?
The same as above applies. However if you really need the
information, you can protect you main email account from possible
advertisements and spam by using a free web based email account.
There are many available however some are better than others.
Again, READ their Privacy Policy to determine if they will
not share your information with anyone. |

|
There
is a company we use to report spam which we recommend that
you use. They are called SpamCop. There is nothing to install,
only information to read and instructions to follow. It
may take a few times to get use to the process however we
have found once you do it a few times, it is quick and easy
to do as the spam comes in and well worth the time involved.
YOU
are responsible for understanding these terms and SCR Online
will not be held responsible for any liabilities you incur
by your use of the SpamCop service.
All
the information you will need and all the questions you
might have are addressed on the SpamCop site. Please do
not call us for phone support on this issue.
